Spreading the word

"Blogger Michael Wyszomierski"
My Downloadable Videos iMix was mentioned in J.D. Biersdorfer's Going to the Movies (and More) in iTunes 4.8 article on MacDevCenter.com. The article, which is oddly dated only four days before the release of iTunes 4.9, credits the iMix to "blogger Michael Wyszomierski." Yeah, I'm awesome.

Coldplay X&Y Album Art Generator
Brendan Houle has cooked up a cool image generator based on the album art of Coldplay's X&Y. It follows the code prescribed in the liner notes.

In the car wash, I saw vapor coming through the air vent. I told myself this was normal.
If I had a grocery store, I wouldn't have one of those annoying savings card club card things.

Just checking in
Hi kids. I'm still around; I've just been busy interning, working, and vacationing. You're lucky I even decided to stay up late enough to write this. I crave sleep.

On the plane, my dad's ticket said row 32. There was no row 32. Airlines are not always fun. Baggage claim is never fun at the Philadelphia airport. I'm not just writing this because I had a bad experience. I'm writing this because I've had over 20 years of bad experiences with PHL's baggage service. Do you ever stick an M&M out on your tongue and look at it because you want to see which color you're eating? There was a 1992? I don't remember it. I don't like it when I get stuck next to someone on the train who doesn't move from his or her aisle seat when another seat opens up.

Dream
I had a weird dream last night, and this was the basic plot:
Ted and I are going to the same school, which is apparently in session. I go outside, and moments later a helicopter lands near me, and Ted steps out, presumably after basketball practice. I think the helicopter then flies away. Ted is annoyed because the pilot of his school-provided helicopter couldn't immediately find the exact location where Ted wanted to be dropped off, which was referred to as "outside the tunnel." We were standing outside of a tunnel, so he must have found it.

I was thinking I rather like the exclusive absolute power

Why I live at home in the summer
Bill Speier: you'll never guess what isn't working
10:40 PM
Bill Speier: I'll give you a hint
Bill Speier: it broke down every other day last fall and they spent all of the spring installing a "new" one
Michael Wyszomierski: haha
Michael Wyszomierski: do they have a sign up? i wonder how they were able to word it this time
Bill Speier: it rhymes with something that rhymes with elevator
Bill Speier: no sign
Bill Speier: it just doesn't work
Bill Speier: I walked back from giant with a bunch of groceries
Bill Speier: and didn't want to have to manage the doors on the stairs
Bill Speier: but I stopped waiting after five minutes
10:50 PM
Michael Wyszomierski: well tell them to fix it before i get there
Bill Speier: I'm sure that would do a lot of good
Michael Wyszomierski: i would do a lot of awesome

Oh and just so you know
I am Hugh M. Iddy.

Adobe Store
Tonight, I put my credit card to work and bought two things that I've been planning on getting for a long time.

First, I purchased a brand new ATI Radeon 9800 Pro Mac Edition graphics card for my Quicksilver G4 after losing several eBay auctions for other cards that will work with my computer, Motion, and Core Image. I wanted to get something that would also work with my broken Studio Display, which uses an ADC connector, but the Internet told me that I was being too picky. I think I'll just pick up a cheap DVI display somewhere, or buy an ADC adapter.

Then, just before I started this entry, I finally decided it was time to upgrade to Photoshop CS 2. Photoshop 5.0.2 has served me well for a long time, but I like to keep my software fresh, and after seven years, the neighbors start asking about the smell. I ordered direct from Adobe, who only required the serial number of my current version as proof that I'm eligible for the upgrade. I couldn't find the CD case, (it's around here somewhere) but fortunately Spotlight directed me to a file of serial numbers that I created last year. I'm probably supposed to laugh now when I look back on the time I tried to buy an academic version for twice as much as the upgrade.

But anyway... the reason this is in the "Quotes" category and the reason I wanted to write the entry at all is my experience at the Adobe Store. When creating my account, Adobe requested a mailing address, billing address, and shipping address. I haven't been able to figure out how I could use three separate addresses in one order. I know that I can have the product shipped to one place and the bill to another, but what would they mail to the third location? A thank-you card? Ugh, of course now that I'm writing this out I just thought of something. They could use it to send catalogs and other junk mail that I'm pretty sure I opted-out of. Whatever, I'm awesome.

Tornado
Michael Wyszomierski: it's just air molecules spinning around
Michael Wyszomierski: you know how small those things are
Michael Wyszomierski: and they're as light as air
Michael Wyszomierski: cause they are air
csvroomfondel: yeah, but when they're in large groups
Michael Wyszomierski: whatever, i'd be like "what's up, air?" and then get in my car and drive fast
Michael Wyszomierski: i would even speed
Michael Wyszomierski: cause if anyone stopped me, i'd be like "dude, look at that tornado, let's go!"
Michael Wyszomierski: and he'd be like "you saved my life! i'm clearing your record and letting you drive my police car!"
Michael Wyszomierski: and then i'd probably write an extensive blog entry about the whole experience

Confessions
Now that Apple has officially announced its plans to switch to Intel, I can finally admit two things: I find the Intel sound catchy and bunny suits comfy.

Ted didn't escape all the photographers
Can you spot Ted and Tony in these pictures? I can spot Ted once and Tony twice.

It gets even better!
I just realized that now I don't have to have mixed feelings when watching Blue Man Group in an Intel commercial!

They're In!
Looks like they opened early. Ted called me at 9:53 AM as they were doing the pre-opening pep-talk/pump-up speech, with plenty of "I can't hear you!"'s. At about 9:55, they were in. Once inside, Ted said, "Yeah, it's just another mall store." Well, that's how it goes. The excitement is in the anticipation and talking with other users, not in seeing the actual store. I'm out to go car shopping with the fam, so that's it for the commentary, but enjoy this photoset of our videoconference.

Apple Store Green Hills
Read Tony's report of the grand opening event, and check out his pictures too.

Missing out
Arriving at 7 AM, Ted and Tony are now 3rd in line for the 10 AM grand opening of the Apple Store at the Mall at Green Hills in Nashville, Tennessee. I wanted to make it down for the opening, but it was only announced about a week ago, so it would have been too expensive and too much of a hassle to plan a trip on such short notice. I hope they still have fun without me.

According to my Nashville correspondents, the first in line arrived at 11:45 PM last night. Ted is going to call during the opening, so I can hear the sounds of them walking in while I'm in PA. They also have cameras, so I will be getting pictures as well, and I'm sure Tony will post some to Flickr.

Stay tuned for more updates.

I think Ted's embarassed to be a geek
Right before he hung up, he said, "I have to go talk to the photographer and make sure I'm not in the paper for this."

Nice try
How I knew that this was fake by only reading the first sentence, and completely disregarding the fact that it's not a real Google cache:

"Apple® today announced the upcoming availibility of it's highly anticipitated..."

Thing about Quiznos that is interesting but surprisingly does not bother me:
At least four people handle my food before it gets to me.

Charlie and the Chocolate Factory
The new trailer for Charlie and the Chocolate Factory (based on the book) makes me more excited about the movie than the creepy teaser did. Although the first movie with Gene Wilder was admittedly strange. Ever see the SNL sketches? They're great. I'm awesome.

Excuse my language, but wtf?
10-Hour Complete Version! Maybe after that amount of time I'll be able to figure out if this is a joke or not.

Multitasking
Today I saw a woman jogging, walking her dog, and talking on her cell phone at the same time.

More blogging!
Reneelet: you made so many entries since i last read your blog, that i can't read them all
Michael Wyszomierski: just take your time
Reneelet: there was a long time when you weren't putting up very much
Reneelet: when did the novelty of summer wear off?
Michael Wyszomierski: it hasn't. i was just busy/away before

Reneelet: why is there so much about amazon.com?
