Have no fear, Wysz is here! I know the blog has been a bit static lately, but
I've been really busy doing crazy things like
moving across the
country. Anyway, I just got my computer hooked
up tonight, so I thought I'd check in and let you know that I haven't forgotten
how to update this thing.
Nothing exciting for tonight though, I need to get some sleep as I have to go to work like a normal person now. Later I'll let you know what California is like. It's pretty silly. You can rent cats and the governor is a machine. Also please note that I know parts of the blog are probably broken right now, so if you get 404'd, I apologize. Hopefully I can fix everything soon. Thursday, July 13, 2006 Entertaining the Wysz Well this is certainly a busy summer. It seems
like I'm in a different city every week, with graduations, weddings, vacations,
and moving. This week, I'm on an entertainment spree. I started it off on Monday
with a trip to the movies to see
Pirates of the Caribbean 2: The Second
Pirates of the Caribbean Movie, A.K.A. Dead Man's
Chest with my sister. I really enjoyed it and
so did the rest of the audience. It didn't seem long, and in fact I was waiting
for more, although like the first movie it may seem a bit lengthy upon excessive
repeat viewings. So don't O.D. on Johnny D., kids. The lighthearted comedy of
the film was great as I expected, but I was most impressed by the incredible
visuals. No offense to Nolan (who worked on the still entertaining
Superman
Returns), but it was a nice break from the
mostly-CG films we're getting used to. They actually built a lot of the sets for
Pirates,
and it made a big difference. And the CG stuff blended in well, especially the
Davy Jones character. The only visual that disappointed me was the obvious
blue/green screen shot ("that Hollywood still
thinks looks good") where Jack Sparrow has a close-up in front of the
CG thing that you'll see in the movie. Besides that, awesome movie and I'm
looking forward to the DVD release to keep me entertained until the next
film.
Last night, my sisters took me up to NYC to see Monty Python's Spamalot: A new musical lovingly ripped off from the motion picture Monty Python and the Holy Grail as a graduation present. It was one of the funniest things I've seen in a while. Fans of the movie can enjoy it because the show recreates all of the funniest scenes from the film, even extending some of the jokes a bit further. And then just when you think you know what's going to happen next, a totally new plot twist turns up. Those who haven't seen the movie will enjoy it just as well, because hey, those scenes are funny! And in true Monty Python style, they break the "fourth wall" a few times, and even reference it directly as they recreate the movie while also parodying Broadway musicals. Tonight, I'm set to see another live show, this one in Philadelphia. We have tickets to see Cirque du Soleil's Quidam thanks to a friend who works for my dad. We've seen their Mystère show in Vegas, and it was probably the best performance I've ever seen in my life, so I'm looking forward to see what they have prepared for Quidam. I'll blog about it next week if I remember, but I'll be pretty busy. Have a great weekend, folks! Monday, July 10, 2006 Worth a blog entry Evan Vanderveer:
alright, i am going to run, (yes, this is a
news event and worth a blog entry), i will be back in a few
Thursday, July 06, 2006 Michael Yesterday, my sister was baby-sitting one of our
young neighbors. We were drawing with chalk on the driveway, and he wanted to
write my name. So, I started to spell it out:
"M-I-E..."
"E?" asked my sister. Whoops. Saturday, July 01, 2006 Welcome* Seth Godin would
love this. I was on Hilton Head Island the other day and saw this printed sign
in a clothing store window in Shelter
Cove:
NO FOOD NO DRINKS NO STROLLERS You'd think that would be enough, but apparently some potential customers were still getting through the door, because written in black marker above those three restrictions was: NO GUM I think the sign was working. The store was empty. |
