I work for Google, but this is my personal website. The views expressed on this site are mine alone and not those of my employer. If I talk or write about Google, feel free to consider my opinion as biased.

If I send you an email from my personal address, leave a comment on your blog, subscribe to your YouTube videos, honk at you on the highway, or otherwise communicate with you as an everyday human being, please remember these all express views that are mine alone and not those of my employer. So there.

Now that we've got that out of the way:

I was thinking about disclosing any financial interests I might have, but that could be a burden to keep up-to-date. If you ever want to learn more about my relationship to a product/company/person/etc., feel free to ask me about it. As you would expect, I have received Google stock, but I also invest in other ways, including buying other individual stocks. I could potentially make money from affiliate links on my site, most of which were created before I had a full-time job. I cancelled my AdSense account within a week of starting to work at Google in order to avoid even the appearance of a conflict of interest regarding how Google treats my site. I don't actively monetize my blog as of this writing, I can't remember the last time I received payment from one of the affiliate services, and I wouldn't be surprised to hear that any of those accounts have expired.
