My Mind Was Blown
Abstract:
Psych 101.
Body:
My psych professor was talking about how we have
"prototypes" for certain objects because of their schemas. He said that we have
an idea of what a chair looks like, and what a desk looks like. He then pointed
to one of those chairs that also has the little desk thing built in, and asked
what that was. A defense mechanism in my brain that prevents me from thinking
too hard kicked in, and made me stop paying attention to the rest of the
lecture. I ended up with a pretty lousy doodle in my notebook, but at least I
didn't walk out with a headache.
