Looks like it wasn't Verizon after allAbstract: Current blame is on the router.
Body: So it looks like the problem may not be with our
DSL connection after all. Tonight I unplugged the router and connected directly
to the modem. I was getting signed off of AIM every 10 minutes all day, but now
I've been on for over three hours straight without a problem. I also just
downloaded a 30 MB file with no
problem.
After my first and only class tomorrow, I'll have to hit the 'Shack for a new router. It's a great place to shop if you know exactly what you're looking for and don't tell anyone how you will use it. If you walk right in and grab something off the shelf or say "Male BNC to male RCA adapter," you'll be out of there in five minutes, with most of the time spent giving them your name, address, phone number, and [insert ridiculous personal data here to make your own joke.] If you go in there and say, "I have a dual-tuner DirecTiVo and need this satellite multiswitch to split the signal," they will tell you that the switch only works with DISH Network satellites. Yes, sir, the multiswitch cares which satellite provider you have. Right. Posted: Monday - September 13, 2004 at 01:17 AM |
